Whether ramming into neighbors, walls, or your legs, your dog really ought to have a little less energy. Aries are never still and your dog is no exception. It is constantly getting itself into situations that should really be avoided—but by some stroke of luck, it usually escapes before anything goes wrong. Still, if your dog has pushed the proverbial red button, while it may run away unharmed, it usually leaves quite the mess in its wake.
Aries know exactly where to run and hide if they aren’t in the mood for play. Even if they are, hide-and-seek is often a favorite. Your dog hasn’t figured out how to get out of your bedroom when you lock it in there (yet), but it will wait patiently until you think it has calmed down enough to come out again. That’s when all the energy comes flying back. An Aries will always find this incredibly funny.
Just because Aries are always on the move does not mean that they are indifferent to you. The same basic attitudes that drive your dog all around the home, yard, and neighborhood can drive it right to your feet. Don’t ever count on your dog ever doing very well with “heel!” or “come!” commands, though; because they’re so energetic, Aries prefer to come for cuddling on their own terms.
Aries are independent. This independence isn’t so much born of self-confidence as it is of selfishness, though, and these dogs can sometimes be temperamental. They will never be very aggressive, but they are definitely not fans of being ignored. If you turn your dog away when it wants some cuddle time, forgiveness will not be quick in coming. It is best to indulge an Aries’ desires when they come. This keeps the peace in the house and ensures greater obedience. Obedience school will help an Aries dog, but it’s no more of a guarantee than with any other dog. Love and care are the best remedies—but only when your dog wants it. Sometimes, that desire may come after it has already gone and hurt itself.
Your dog is the dog that can run under a semi trailer and emerge unscathed—but don’t test that. You wouldn’t anyway; Aries have so many harrowing near-death experiences that you’d much rather that your dog just sat at home in your lap. This inevitably swells your dog’s sense of self-worth. The best thing to do is to acknowledge that, yes, your dog is the best in the world. It will usually be content with that.
Aries have little tolerance for less intelligent dogs. When first exposed to another animal, Aries tend to do a funny personality flop. Depending on their mood, they approach the newcomer either in friendship or antagonism, quickly switching to the other their opinion is formed. If your dog initially charges at the new puppy you brought home, it just might be won over in the next instant; on the other hand, it might take ages for it to warm up to the pooch that your significant other brings with the three of you on walks. Over time, though, Aries will mellow. Traditional matches for Aries are Leo and Sagittarius. Once things have settled, your Aries will get over itself and get back into being rambunctious—wall-ramming included.
