Your dog is still a puppy. Chances are, even when it is arthritic and blind, it will still be a puppy. Everything gets wrapped into its energetic, fun-filled lifestyle. Geminis are emotionally and socially flexible. They aren’t always willing to ride in dog cages, but they will usually ride in cars, or stay home, or move, or acclimate quickly to a new pet. Changes in feeding or your arrival times do little to faze them, either. They basically are loving dogs.
Geminis are always curious about new pets and people. They aren’t so friendly that they immediately dive into somebody’s face, tongue wet and dangerous, but they always present the best face to new pets and usually scramble over to new people for some petting. Once they have traded pleasantries, your Gemini will go back to enjoying whatever it was doing before. That’s the nice thing about a Gemini—it’s pretty capable of taking care of itself, and that doesn’t even have to involve digging up your roses. A few carefully chosen dog toys (rawhide is a favorite, and teddy bears) mean that if you’re too busy to play, your Gemini isn’t. This dog has a level of independence that makes for easy care. However, all of that leeway comes with a price.
Geminis usually aren’t flexible because of their magnanimous nature; rather, flexibility usually comes because they are naturally inconsistent themselves. You won’t be the only one changing the schedule. It may also be that your Gemini is the one demanding food at odd times or suddenly leaping out of your lap, bored with petting and cuddling. Your Gemini usually comes running to you for protection, though. That, you can count on—as well, you can know that Geminis will be slow to warm up to people or pets that present a threat. Your Gemini will leave the room and maybe come poking in a little later to scope things out, but it will never likely warm up to that animal or person. With that said, any non-threatening additions to the household will be greeted first with a sort of curious aloofness, followed quickly by an intense attempt at incorporating the newcomer into your dog’s playtime. Libras and Aquarii are the most compatible.
Geminis are frolic-aholics. They will have many favorite toys, all of which they will be willing to share with you, your neighbor, your neighbor’s cat, and your neighbor’s cat’s goldfish. Geminis express themselves very well. If they are sick, need food or water, want to play, or want to cuddle, they can make it known. You will easily learn to communicate with your dog, who will be very obedient. Geminis are easy to train and will likely learn clever tricks that they will always enjoy performing. Start now, and soon enough, your forever-puppy Gemini will be shaking hands, playing dead, balancing delicate china on its nose, and doing song-and-dance numbers galore—or, at least, it will have fun trying.
